With 872 sixes, the 2018 edition of the tournament held the previous record. Delhi Daredevils Rishabh Pant topped the list with 37 sixes in that season.

During the 2019 season of the IPL, 784 sixes were hit, with destructive batsman Andre Russell of the Kolkata Knight Riders topping the list by hitting 52 sixes in the tournament. There was a difference of 88 sixes between the 2019 and 2018 seasons.
