Known for its exciting games and explosive batting, Indian Premier League has undeniably established itself as the most exciting T20 franchise tournament in the world. With the world’s best players competing against each other, the IPL is sure to produce fireworks and has done so in the last 15 seasons. Since its inception in 2008, the marquee T20 League has been a platform for some of the most thrilling and high-scoring cricket matches. It’s considered a poor effort if a team fails to score atleast 200 runs on certain pitches. But sometimes teams take it to another level and register mammoth totals that feel like it should be the score of an ODI game. Lets take a look at the highest team scores in IPL history.

1. Sunrisers Hyderabad – 287/3 vs RCB, IPL 2024:
Just 19 days after putting up the highest ever score in IPL, Sunrisers Hyderabad broke their own record in IPL 2024. On April 15, 2024, SRH amassed a mammoth 287/3 against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Travis Head was the star performer and went on to hit the fourth fastest hundred of the league’s history in 39 deliveries. With quick-fire cameos from Heinrich Klaasen, Aiden Markram and Abdul Samad, SRH reached 287/3 in 20 overs. This remarkable total also ranks as the second-highest in the history of T20 cricket after Nepal’s score of 314/3 against Mongolia in 2023.

2. Sunrisers Hyderabad – 277/3 vs MI, IPL 2024:
On March 27, 2024, Sunrisers Hyderabad surpassed RCB’s longstanding record for the highest total in the league’s history. Heinrich Klassen”s 80 run knock of just 34 deliveries, quick fire fifties from Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma (63 runs of 23 balls) helped the Orange Army put up a humongous total of 277/3.

3. Kolkata Knight Riders – 272/7 vs DC, IPL 2024:
On 3rd April, 2024, Kolkata Knight Riders hammered 272/7 against Delhi Capitals, nearly matching Sunrisers Hyderabad’s record. With notable performances from Sunil Narine, Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Andre Russell, KKR not only registered their highest total, but also the third highest ever total in the history of IPL.

4. Sunrisers Hyderabad – 266/7 vs DC, IPL 2024:
On April 20, 2024, Sunrisers Hyderabad batsman once again unleashed a relentless onslaught. Their batters were unstoppable in IPL 2024 as they smashed their third 250+ score of the tournament. In this match, SRH registered the highest ever powerplay score in the IPL history as they 125 in just 6 overs. Travis Head played a formidable knock with Shahbaz Ahmed and Abhishek Sharma also making useful contributions. At one stage, Sunrisers went from 131 for 0 to 151 for 4 but Shahbaz smashed the bowlers all over the park and finished with 59 runs from just 29 helping his team post an imposing total.

5. Royal Challengers Bangalore – 263/5 vs PWI, IPL 2013:
In IPL 2013 match, RCB’s star player Chris Gayle alone scored 175 runs which is an average score put up by teams in most of the matches. If he had got few more balls to play, Gayle might have smashed a double century also. While the carribean left-hander undeniably hammered the opposition bowlers all over the park, AB de Villiers didn’t hold anything back either and smashed 31 off eight balls. In reply, The Warriors fell like a pack of cards and RCB reigned supreme with a 130-run win.
