On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai will be throwing its doors open for everyone to enjoy a match between Gujarat Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore on Wednesday. Just days ago, the BCCI announced that women and girls will be able to enter all Women’s Premier League (WPL) matches free of charge in order to promote women’s cricket in the country.
In a match between the Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday, the free entry was announced on the giant scoreboard. It was also announced on the official Twitter handle of the WPL.

The Mumbai Indians defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by nine wickets in the match. Following taking three wickets, Hayley Matthews scored 38 balls to complete a fine all-round performance, while Nat Sciver-Brunt made 55 off 29 balls.
Royal Challengers Bangalore had won the toss and opted to bat, but were all out for 155 in 18.4 overs. Smriti Mandhana and Sophie Devine scored 39 runs in 4.2 overs before Saika Ishaque dismissed Devine for a 16-ball over. As Disha Kasat failed to open her account, Mandhana was dismissed for a 17-ball 23 by Hayley Matthews. Richa Ghosh was able to make 28 from 26 balls, while Kanika Ahuja, Shreyanka Patil, and Megan Schutt came in for useful cameos.
