Watch: Pollard’s Six Heads Straight Towards Commentary Box, Sangakkara Survives

It’s raining Sixes at ‘The Hundred’ tournament in England and one of them from Kieron Pollard’s bat scared the commentators at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff on Monday. While batting for Southern Brave ,a big hit from the bat of Pollard almost hit the commentators. Pollard struck the six during the over of Welsh Fire’s Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf . One of the most feared batsman in the world, Pollard smashed Rauf for a six towards backward square leg. The right arm quickie bowled a bouncer to the Carribean batsman who was ready and hammered the ball for a maximum. There were legends sitting in commentary box including Kumar Sangakkara and Robert Croft. The ball appeared to be heading straight for the glass window of the commentary box . With the commentary box located at ground level in the direction of the ball, it prompted commentators, including Sangakkara, to take evasive action and that was captured on camera too. Croft was on mic at the time and mentioned that he was looking at the screen and not aware where ball was while Sangakkara just put his hand in front of face at the last moment.  Fortunately, the ball hit the advertising board in front of the commentary box.

Pollard ended up with a quickfire 17 run knock of just 12 balls. Southern Brave scored a total of 139 while batting first. In reply, Welsh Fire were all out for 97 with five balls remaining, giving Southern Brave a dominant 42-run victory.
