Story of the Most Haunted Places in India

Many people may not believe in the existence of ghosts but those who have experienced it have been left shocked and shaken to the core. Famous for its mysteries and untold truths, India is known to garner a lot of attention for its undiscovered mysteries. There are some places where only the rare have the courage to visit because of the numerous haunted stories related with those particular places. From Bhangarh Fort in Rajasthan, where no one is allowed to go post sunset to the royal palace of Shaniwar Wada in Pune, where ghost of a 13 year old prince lingers around,these places have a spooky tale to tell. Here are few of the most haunted places in India.

1. Bhangarh Fort
Bhangarh is a village situated in Rajasthan state of India. This is probably one of the scariest places in India that could freak you out, no matter how daring you are Archaelogical Survey of India  has prohibited people from visiting the Bhangarh Fort at night. Guru Balu Nath sanctioned the establishment of the town with one condition that the the shadows of the palaces should not touch him.

It is said that the town was cursed by Guru Balu Nath, after a palace was built too tall. There is a board right in front of the fort’s gate that asks tourists to stay indoors after sunset and before sunrise to avoid experiencing strange events. It’s an order from the government, too.

According to another story, a wizard fell in love with the princess and cast black magic spells on her. He was lucky enough to see Princess Ratnavati’s mistress and enchanted the oil she was purchasing with black magic. However, Ratnavati witnessed his trick and poured the oil on the ground which then turned into a rock, rolled towards the wizard and he died. Before his death, he cursed the fort and it resulted in its downfall and doom. The city of Bhangarh to death and as a result, it never witnessed any rebirths The Bhangarh Fort ranks first on our list of most haunted places in India.

2. Kuldhara
Kuldhara is a deserted and demolished village in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan that has been abandoned for over 200 years due to a curse. It is said that a minister named Salim Singh fell in love with a village girl and warned all of levying double taxes if the girl does not marry him. To protect the girl, nearby 83 villages disappeared overnight and left a curse behind. Due to the curse of the inhabitants, no one could inhabit Kuldhara ever. The village that looks spectacular in the day turns into the worst nightmare at night. There are houses and temples in near-perfect condition even today.

 

3. Tunnel No. 33 (Barog Tunnel)
The Barog Tunnel on the Kalka-Shimla railway line is claimed to be the straightest tunnel in the world. On the way to Shimla, there are numerous tunnels through which the train passes but one particular tunnel is said to be haunted by the spirit British engineer named Captain Barog who was actually in charge of building the Tunnel. But he could not meet the deadline and the British penalized and punished him and he committed suicide consequently.

His unhappy spirit is rumored to wander in the tunnel and people could still hear his voice and whisper. Although, it is one of the beautiful routes to travel but the Tunnel on the way is something to watch out for.

4. Mukesh Mills
Mukesh Mills  located in Colaba,Mumbai was shut down in 1982 forever due to a devastating fire. The mill was untouched until a few years ago when film directors began shooting here. It is now a popular shooting location for Bollywood films. But the shootings have been interrupted again and again. Many stars and crew members have said that they have witnessed paranormal activities in certain areas of the mill. This is why they wrap up their work before the sun sets in. Cast and crew have been witnessing several paranormal activities here.

Mukesh Mills location right next to the Arabian Sea made it appropriate for ships to dock here for loading and unloading of cotton and yarn. The mill, however, went out of business in the 1980s when the workers struck work. People have allegedly heard strange voices, people have lost things and possession stories are also popular. That’s why night shootings do not take place at this place.

Actress Bipasha Basu had strange experience here. While Bipasha found it particularly difficult to deliver her dialogues in one part of the mills and she felt like someone was stopping her from saying the lines.  Recently the Mill has been renovated and given a new look which may attract more people but that also means more experiences and if the people will dare to visit their night, well their experience is something that everyone wants to hear.

 

5. Shaniwar Wada Fort
Shaniwar Wada Fort  located in Pune,Maharashtra is known for the ghost of a 13-year-old prince still lingers around the Fort. Narayan,the young prince was known to have been murdered here. When he came to power when he turned 16, he took over the throne that was ruled by his uncle on his behalf thus far. It is believed that this decision was not liked by the uncle’s wife and she conspired to kill him. When he was about to be assassinated, the prince went running and begged his Uncle to save him. It is believed that his spirit haunts the place when the night falls and locals say that his screams saying SAVE ME UNCLE can still be heard at night. Well, Shaniwar Wada Fort is among the most haunted places and one of the places which will excite those who like to explore haunted places.

 

So these are some of the scariest places to visit in India and it is advisable not to visit them because you never know what’s in store and there are various other destinations to visit rather than putting lives at risk by visiting these haunted sites.
