Rohit and Virat’s form a concern for India before T20 world cup in Australia

In limited-overs cricket, this is a pivotal year for India. The memories of last year’s T20 World Cup are still fresh in our minds. India was eliminated from the group stages, which was shocking for everyone.

In ODIs and T20Is, India’s top three players are Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli. They are incredible, stylish, and absolute powerhouses of skill, but when you look at the stats, you can see why the squad requires a fresh strategy. India is not one of the teams that attacks the opposing team in the powerplay; rather, India prefers to keep wickets in hand and build an innings by being cautious in the initial phase, then going all out in the death overs however, this strategy sometimes backfires because it lowers the run rate.

KL Rahul is in good form

The top three batters of India are quite similar. KL Rahul also cuts down risks early in his innings just like Rohit and Kohli but at least, he is in fine form as Lucknow Super Giants captain. This is not right to say that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are not good players. Perhaps, there will be no other like these two geniuses, but they’ve started to lose effectiveness in the T20 format, which is a fast-paced game that demands genuine boundary hitters.

Rohit and Virat’s form is vital for T20 World Cup

However, it may be the time for both of them to reclaim their form and start scoring runs at a high rate. Both of them require some time to settle into the crease at the start of innings, sometimes it puts other batters under pressure. The top order is the only area of worry for the Indian cricket squad.

Many players in the Indian squad like Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Surya kumar Yadav, Dinesh Karthik and Shreyas Iyer are in great form in the IPL 2022 and might be included in the team for the T20 World Cup. But, it is safe to assume that India will go with their top two batsmen (Rohit and Virat) in the team. This is Rohit Sharma’s first world cup as captain, and he will be under much more pressure.
