KKR Captain Eoin Morgan
MS Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings lifted the Indian Premier League (IPL) Trophy for the fourth time on Friday. After the match , Eoin Morgan said that he was proud of the team for the way they fought back in the second phase of IPL to reach the final. He praised the young guys especially Shubman Gill and Venketesh Iyer and called them the cornerstone of KKR’s batting. Morgan also gave a big shout out to the owners for their support.
Batting first, Faf du Plessis played a crucial knock ( 86 off 59 balls) to help CSK post a formidable score of 192 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. In reply, KKR could manage 165 for 9 in their 20 overs although Shubman Gill and Venkatesh Iyer gave a superb start with both of them scoring half century. But after their partnership broke, Kolkata batting collapsed and they were suddenly reduced to 125 for 8. Shardul Thakur was the pick of the bowlers as he took three crucial wickets while Ravindra Jadeja and Josh Hazlewood also got two wickets.
After the win in 2010, 2011 and 2018, this is the fourth time CSK have won IPL Trophy and there is only one side which has won trophy more times- Mumbai Indians (5 times). According to rumours, this may be the last time Dhoni is seen in yellow jersey. It remains to be seen if he announces retirement after giving this gift to CSK fans.
