Sanjay Manjrekar requests BCCI to reinstate him as Commentator for IPL 2020
Former Team India cricketer turned commentator Sanjay Manjrekar has requested the BCCI to reinstate him as a commentator in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League . Manjrekar got dropped by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) from the commentary panel recently after his controversial comments made headlines.
Even though BCCI did not release any official statement regarding it, Manjrekar has not been part of commentary panel that had traveled to Dharamsala for India’s ODI series opener against South Africa, which clarified that he was sacked.
Manjrekar sacking has been related to his comments on Team India player Ravindra Jadeja. Manjrekar drew criticism when he called Jadeja BITS and PIECES player during the 2019 World Cup. At that Jadeja had also reacted but later the two sorted it out. During the pink-ball Test against Bangladesh last year, Manjrekar was criticised when he questioned Harsha Bhogle’s credentials.
According to a leading web portal,Manjrekar requested the members of the Apex Council to explain his position as commentator after he said an email to them. BCCI is likely to announce the commentary panel soon for IPL 2020 and it remains to be seen if Manjrekar is included in the list or not.
