The first one was a back-foot pull shot that soared over deep mid-wicket, while the second one was a powerful hit over long-on that went for a colossal 101 meters. Varma brought up his half-century in style by smashing a massive six off Akash Deep’s delivery. He achieved the feat in 32 balls, and with six wickets down, Mumbai Indians aimed to post a competitive total against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the remaining overs of the match.

MI posted a total of 171/5 in their 20 overs, thanks to Tilak Varma’s brilliant batting display. Varma remained unbeaten on 84 runs off just 46 balls, and his highlight of the innings came on the last delivery when he smashed a huge maximum to take MIpast the 170-run mark. Nehal Wadhera played a quick cameo of 21 runs off 13 balls to complement Varma’s effort. Meanwhile, Karn Sharma was the pick of the bowlers for RCB as he took two wickets during the innings. With this score on board, RCB hoped to defend it against Mumbai Indians in the second half of the match.

RCB vs MI Highlights: 2nd Innings

Royal Challengers Bangalore started their chase of 172 runs against Mumbai Indians with a bang. Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis opened the innings for RCB, and they got off to a flying start. Jason Behrendorff bowled the first over for MI, but Faf du Plessis changed the momentum of the match by hitting two back-to-back sixes off his bowling. The first one came after he hit it hard over mid-wicket, while the second one was a huge hit over long-off.

Faf continued his brilliant form in the following over bowled by Cameron Green, where he hit a massive scoop over fine-leg for another six to end the over. The carnage continued as Faf scored 17 runs off that over. With such a flying start, RCB looked in a good position to chase down the target set by MI. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli, who opened the innings with Faf, played a captain’s knock, scoring a brilliant half-century in just 38 balls, his 45th in the IPL. With Faf dismissed for 73 by Arshad Khan, caught by Tim David at long-on, the 148-run partnership between him and Kohli finally came to an end, providing some relief to MI.

Mumbai Indians strike again as Dinesh Karthik departs for a golden duck, caught brilliantly by Tilak Varma off Cameron Green’s bowling. Glenn Maxwell then takes charge and swings the match back in RCB’s favor by smashing two consecutive sixes off Cameron Green’s over. Finally, Virat Kohli seals the deal for RCB with a huge six as they register a thumping eight-wicket win over Mumbai Indians. Kohli scored an unbeaten 82 off 49 balls while Faf du Plessis scored 73, taking RCB to their target of 172 in just 16.2 overs.
