IPL 2022: Top Indian players who didn’t perform up to their reputation

Indian Premier League season 15 ended on Sunday with Gujarat Titans defeating Rajasthan Royals in the final match by seven wickets to win the title in their debut season. During the season, Team India’s players did well in this IPL, while there were many who flopped and did not perform to their reputation. The following is the list of those players who flopped in this season. These players include veterans like Team India’s captain Rohit Sharma and former captain Virat Kohli.

Disappointing season for these high-profile players in IPL 2022

1) Rohit Sharma:

For Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma,  this IPL was also bad with the bat as well as from the captaincy point of view. Mumbai Indian, who have won the IPL title five times under his captaincy failed to qualify for the Playoffs this season and finished at the last position on the points table. Rohit scored just 268 runs in 14 matches with an average of 19.14 and a strike rate of 120.18. In this season Rohit failed to score a half-century. His best score was 48. This was a season to forget for Hitman.

2) Virat Kohli:

This season was very average for Virat Kohli, who is facing a century drought for a long time in cricket. In 16 matches, he scored 341 runs at an average of 22.73 with a low strike rate of 115.99. He only managed to score 2 half-centuries in this season. His best score was 73. He was also cheaply dealt in both the knock-out matches of IPL 2022. Virat Kohli became the victim of a golden duck in 3 matches.

3) Ravindra Jadeja:

It was an awful season for Ravindra Jadeja in all aspects of the game, He was made the captain of Chennai Super Kings just before the start of IPL 2022. Under his captaincy, the team’s performance dropped, and the team got off to a shaky start in the season, losing a lot of games. Jadeja left the captaincy in the middle of the season to focus more on his game, but he was ruled out of the tournament due to injury. Ravindra Jadeja played 10 matches in this season. Only 116 runs came off his bat with a strike rate of 118. Apart from the bat, Jadeja was also a flop in bowling and was able to take only 5 wickets.

4) Rishabh Pant:

Captain of Delhi Capitals Rishabh Pant could not live up to the expectations in IPL-15. He could only score 340 runs in 14 matches at an average of 31. Not a single half-century came off his bat. Pant’s team could not even reach the playoffs this time. Pant has a reputation for hitting sixes, but he only manages to hit 16 in the season.
