IPL 2022: Pat Cummins in the list of fastest 50

Pat Cummins, KKR’s strike bowler, got his IPL season off to a flying start. He was awarded the player of the match for his exceptional performance against Mumbai Indians at MCA Stadium in Pune. His blistering innings helped KKR Chase down the target of 162 with 5 wickets and four overs to spare. He scored quick 56 runs in just 15 balls hitting 6-sixes and 4-fours with a destructive strike rate of 373.33 and bagged 2 important wickets of in-form Ishaan Kishan and Surya Kumar Yadav.

Even though KKR lost wickets frequently, Pat Cummins and Venkatesh Iyer ensured victory for their side. Cummins’s half-century came in just 14 balls, making it the joint-fastest in IPL history. KL Rahul accomplished the same feat in 2018 while playing against the Delhi Daredevils. Cummins now has the second-highest number of IPL fifties batting at No.7 or below.

Having conceded 23 runs in the final over when Mumbai Indians batted, Pat Cummins redeemed himself when he stepped out and delivered an innings on a pitch that caused problems for every other batsman in a chase that was looking challenging. He targeted his countryman Daniel Sams and hammered him for 35 runs in the 16th over, putting an end to an interesting competitive match. The Mumbai Indians players and fans were totally stunned by KKR’s All-Rounder’s ruthless innings.
