Virat Kohli’s forgettable outing in Bangalore Day-Night Test Match

The former Indian Captain Virat Kohli now has made a bad habit of throwing away wicket after getting a start. He was undone by the consistency of Dhananjay De Silva’s off spin bowling. The batter was expected to notch up a Century for his Bangalore Fans, yet he is  not able to convert a score into a monstrous one. Kohli was known for a dominant display against quality bowlers is facing a horrible phase that too against Sri Lankan side who still are in the era of rebuilding and reconstruction after a string of below par performances.

*Shreyas Iyer shines in tough conditions

Virat Kohli may have failed but the dashing right handed batter, Shreyas Iyer proved a point that he is hungry for runs. The team was in a precarious position as the score was 148-6. The batsman was too quick to understand the situation and then played smart cricket as he not only went into attacking mode but made sure that Sri Lankan bowlers aren’t bowling to the tail enders. He scored a hard fought 92 runs and posted a below par yet challenging total of 252 runs.  He would rue the fact of missing out on a ton, but he has given India a solid chance.

*India’s Bowlers stamp their authority by picking up 6 wickets for 86 runs

In response to the 1st innings, India’s Bowlers were lethal as Shami and Bumrah broke the back of Sri Lanka’s batting line up; they took 5 wickets amongst themselves. The dismissal of Sri Lankan Captain Dimuth Karunaratne by Shami was amazing as he clean bowled him. Angelo Mathews tried to put the innings back on track. He wasn’t afraid to take down Azar Patel, his aggressive nature was too costly as he lost his wicket at the back end of Day’s play. His wicket has now made India favorites for the Pink Ball Day Night Test Match. India would be hoping to get a sizeable lead of 100 runs. Whereas Sri Lanka would believe that they get one big partnership of 100 runs, the deficit is 166 runs which may seem achievable is still big as scoring runs on a turning track won’t be easy at all. All in all, we are in for a fascinating Contest on Day 2 of Second Test Match.
