The bidding flags of 10 IPL teams for the Tata IPL Auction 2022
BCCI took a bold decision by splitting 10 teams in 2 groups. Each team is slated to play 5 teams twice and the remaining 4 teams only once. Franchises would be jolted as from out of the blue BCCI took this step. The 2 groups which are divided are as follows:
(a) Group A: MI, KKR, RR, DC, LSG
(b) Group B: CSK, SRH,RCB,PBKS,GT
Each team will play twice against the teams in their group and against the team in the same row in the other group. For example RR will play twice in the league stages against MI, KKR, DC and LSG. RR will play once against CSK,SRH,RCB,PBKS, GT.
This format is quite similar to that used for the 2011 edition, when the IPL had two new teams in the form of Pune Warriors India & Kochi Tuskers Kerala. BCCI earlier made it clear that IPL is scheduled to take place on March 26 and is expected to wrap up on May 29. BCCI would be enthralled as now they have made a new format for it’s fans.
Each team will play 4 matches each at Wankhede Stadium and DY Patil Stadium; 3 matches each at Brabourne Stadium (CCI) and MCA International Stadium, Pune. The franchises would be upset as they did not have any idea about such a step.
