Suryakumar Yadav to miss series against South Africa

Suryakumar is also expected to miss a majority of the five-match T20I series against South Africa, according to BCCI sources. The right-hander has developed into one of India’s greatest T20I players, and he will be a significant loss if he is not included in the team for the South Africa series.

Suryakumar’s medical condition has been verified by the Mumbai Indians, who have announced that he would miss the remainder of the season. Suryakumar, on the other hand, would not report to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru following the discovery of his ailment, as per BCCI standards for annual contracted players.

Great season for Suryakumar

Meanwhile, the Mumbai Indians have already been eliminated from the IPL 2022 playoffs and will be keen to put their bench strength to the test in Suryakumar Yadav’s absence. Suryakumar had an important cameo in the middle order this season, hitting 303 runs in eight games. He’s a strong candidate for a position in India’s T20 World Cup team in 2022, so getting some playing experience before the event is critical.

Suryakumar Yadav’s journey

Because of his consistency year after year, Suryakumar Yadav has established himself as one of India’s best white-ball hitters. Since returning to the Mumbai Indians for the 11th season of the IPL, he has made quite an impression. The Mumbai batsman, who was paid INR 3.2 crore, made the most of his opportunity because of his extensive understanding of the Wankhede Stadium grounds.

When confronted with the new ball, he seemed at ease and handled the situation wonderfully. Suryakumar was able to shift gears and even play quietly when the situation called for it by following the scenario. With 424 runs, he was MI’s second-leading run-scorer in 2019.

He outperformed himself in the 2020 season, hitting 480 runs with a strike rate of 145, and made his T20 International debut for India. No one was shocked when he smashed the deliveries from the first ball and hit a superb fifty that radiated confidence.
