India had opted to bowl first. India were set a target of 184 by Sri Lanka’s batting unit. In response to 184 target India were jolted with a blow as the Captain Rohit Sharma was dismissed in the very first over. In the power-play overs, India lost 2 wickets & scored 46 runs. Shreyas Iyer who came in to bat at No.3 started the innings in a dream fashion. He was absolutely outstanding with the bat. He scored a fantastic knock of 74 runs in 44 balls. He got ample support from the likes of Sanju Samson & Ravindra Jadeja. Samson struck 39 runs in 25 balls, whereas Jadeja scored a barnstorming knock of 45 runs in 18 balls. The left handed batter was in beast mode as India chased down the target with 2.5 overs remaining. Sri Lanka’s bowlers were literally  looking helpless as none of them had good figures to their name.

Earlier, after being invited to bat first Sri Lanka’s openers had a steady power-play as they scored 32 runs. The openers: Pathum Nissanka & Danushka Gunathilaka started to attack. In the 9th attack Danushka went berserk against the sly Jadeja’s left arm off spinner. Though his aggression was short as Jadeja got rid off him after getting smashed for 16 runs in first 3 balls. Pathum from then onwards took responsibility of team by scoring 75 runs in 53 balls. In the end the captain Dasun Shanaka played a flamboyant cameo of 47 runs in 19 balls. His batting prowess made sure that Sri Lanka posted a competitive total of 183 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. The likes of Bumrah & Chahal were the only two bowlers who had good figures where they conceded runs less than 7.

India would be thrilled after winning a T20I Series against Sri Lanka. Most importantly India won without major contribution from the Captain Rohit Sharma. Sri Lanka on the other hand would rue that they missed a golden opportunity  of squaring the T20I Series The 3rd T20I Match is scheduled to take place on 27th February at the same venue Dharamsala. Sri Lanka would hope that they avoid embarrassment the same way where they did in Australia, where they won the 5th T20I Match. Sri Lanka though know that it’s not easy to win against a Champion Indian Side. On the other hand India would hope that they continue their juggernaut of consecutive victories. so far India has won 11 back-to back matches. The spectators at Dharamsala would hope that boundaries would rain.
