RCB vs KKR Highlights: 1st Innings

KKR, who batted first, made one change from their previous game: Tim Southee replaced Shivam Mavi in the lineup. Venkatesh Iyer and Ajinkya Rahane opened the innings cautiously, scoring 14 runs in the first three overs. RCB used their strong start to dismiss Venkatesh Iyer in the fourth over when he was caught and bowled by Akash Deep.

KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer, who joined Rahane, started his innings with two fours. Rahane was removed by Mohammed Siraj after being caught in the deep by Shahbaz Ahmed, who took an easy catch.

Nitish Rana started his innings with a four and a six against Akash Deep, but the pacer came back to eliminate the left-handed hitter. Thanks to a wonderful running catch from David Willey, and KKR was 44-3 at the completion of 6 overs. The Knight Riders’ woes worsened when skipper Iyer was caught by du Plessis at long-on off Hasaranga’s bowling. The two new batters in the lineup were Sam Billings and Sunil Narine. Narine began boldly, striking a four and a six to Akash Deep. Narine was followed by Billings, who blasted a maximum over mid-wicket.

Great bowling from RCB

Hasaranga grabbed two wickets in two deliveries to dismiss Narine and Sheldon Jackson. While Narine was confined to the circle, the spinner caught Jackson by surprise in the ninth over. With KKR down at 76/6 at the midway mark, the dangerous Andre Russell came in to bat.

The right-handed batter made a strong first impression, blasting four and sixes. Harshal Patel contributed a rare wicket-maiden over, dismissing Sam Billings, who was caught in the deep by Virat Kohli. Russell, on the other hand, was undeterred, blasting two big sixes against Shahbaz Ahmed.

Russell’s spectacular knock of 25 came to an end when he was caught behind off the bowling of Harshal Patel, who completed an amazing wicket-maiden for the second time in a row. Hasaranga’s fourth victim was Tim Southee, who was securely caught by du Plessis at long-on following a mistimed shot. Umesh Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy combined 27 runs for the final wicket before Yadav was run out in the penultimate over by Akash Deep. The Knight Riders finished with a total of 128 points.

RCB vs KKR Highlights: 2nd Innings

The Royal Challengers lost both of their openers as skipper du Plessis was caught inside the circle. Virat Kohli, who batted at number three, hit two stunning fours before getting caught behind Yadav’s bowling. RCB was 3 down for 36 at the end of the powerplay with David Willey and Sherfane Rutherford on the pitch.

The batting combination alleviated some of the pressure by hitting spinner Varun Chakravarthy for four and six runs in the eighth over. At the end of ten overs, the Challengers were 59-3, due to some risk-free cricket from Willey and Rutherford, who kept the runs flowing.

Narine pulled KKR into the game by dismissing Willey, who was granted an easy dismissal. Shahbaz Ahmed, who had been promoted to the top order, displayed his striking skills by hammering two sixes against Russell to help RCB reclaim control. RCB required 36 runs from the final five overs.

They reached 100 after Shahbaz struck a maximum against Chakravarthy, but the right-handed batsman was stumped on the next delivery. With 24 needed off the final three overs, there was another twist. Tim Southee struck twice in the over to remove Rutherford and Wanindu Hasaranga one after another. Harshal Patel hit two important fours in the second last over before Dinesh Karthik completed the chase with a six and four.
