What does PTI say?

If the rain interrupt and no play is possible during regulation time, the two teams’ fates may be decided by a Super Over. As per PTI, which cited an IPL briefing note on Monday, if the Super Over is not possible, then the league standings will determine the winner.

IPL guidelines reported by PTI states that “the number of overs in a playoff match may be reduced, if necessary so that both sides have the opportunity to bat for five overs.”

They further added that “During Eliminator and Qualifier playoff matches, if the teams are not able to play a five-over match to finish by the end of extra time, the teams will play a Super Over to determine the winner of the Eliminator or Qualifier match, if conditions permit.” “If the Super Over cannot be achieved, the team with the highest league table after the 70 regular season matches is declared the winner of the relevant play-off match or final.”
