IPL 2022: Two Key KKR players to miss first few matches

The much-anticipated Indian Premier League begins in three days. A match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings is scheduled for March 26. A major blow has been dealt with KKR before that. Both Pat Cummins and Aaron Finch, two key players for Kolkata, will miss at least five matches,  according to David Hussey, the mentor of the team.

The announcement is a setback for the two-time champions, who will open their season against the reigning champions, Chennai Super Kings. KKR is concerned, according to Hussey. Every side wants to have its greatest player available, but international cricket should be the limit. Every cricketer has a responsibility to represent their country at the international level, and they should desire to do so. Hussey predicted in a recent interview that Cummins and Finch will miss the first five games of the season, but that they will be cricket fit and prepared.

KKR facing issues with international players

KKR’s fifth match of the season will be played on April 10 while Australia’s tour of Pakistan ends on April 5. The KKR were dealt a blow earlier in the tournament after T20 specialist Alex Hales withdrew due to bubble fatigue. KKR’s woes have been compounded by the absence of Australian duo Cummins and Finch, who replaced Hales. The pair are on tour in Pakistan, meaning they will miss the team’s first few games.

Hussey on Shreyas

Hussey feels that new KKR captain Shreyas Iyer has a strong cricketing intellect and has demonstrated leadership ability when guiding the Delhi Capitals. KKR paid Rs 12.25 crore for Iyer in the super auction last month after he guided Delhi Capitals to the final in 2020. Shreyas is a natural leader; just walking around demands respect, according to Hussey. Pat Cummins, whom he has known for a long time, would be a fantastic deputy and would also be able to lead from the front, he continued.
