The fourth match of IPL 2022 was played between Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans. It caught the attention of cricket fans worldwide. Both teams were playing in the IPL for the first time. The cricket fans wished more than this match to see a player returning after an 11-year absence from the IPL.

During the IPL 2022, a player returned to the league after a long absence of 11 years. He plays for Gujarat Titans. We are discussing Gujarat’s star wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Wade. Wade played in the IPL again for the first time in 11 years against the Lucknow Super Giants. In this match, Wade scored 30 runs and hit four fours.

Wade was sold for Rs 2.4 crore in this year’s IPL

At the big auction, Wade was in great demand, and the Gujarat Titans paid Rs 2 crore 40 lakh for him. After securing this large agreement with the IPL, Wade revealed that he was leaving county cricket in England. Matthew Wade represented Worcestershire Club in England’s domestic county cricket championship. For the second time, he is participating in the IPL. He played during the 2011 season in Delhi Daredevils at the time, which was captained by Virender Sehwag.

Wade played a key role in Australia’s T20 World Cup

Matthew Wade was a part of Australia’s winning T20 World Cup team. Wade struck three consecutive sixes in the semi-final match against Pakistan, which helped Australia reach the final. The squad was able to win the losing match because of Wade’s stunning sixes. In the final match, Australia easily trounced New Zealand.

Wade’s career summary

Wade was called up to the Australian squad for the first time in October 2011, for a Twenty20 International against South Africa, following his success in domestic limited-overs cricket. He made his international debut as a T20I player against India in Sydney in February 2012, opening the batting and scored 72 runs off 43 balls to receive Man of the Match honors.

Following the T20I series, Wade was called up to the Australian One Day International team for the 2011–12 Commonwealth Bank  Series. On his debut against India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, he was named Man of the Match after scoring 67 runs off 69 balls.
