Prasidh Krishna the speedster being the wrecker-in-chief against a spirited West Indies.

West Indies had won the toss & elected to bowl first. India had posted a below par total of 238 runs for West Indies. For West Indies this total was a gettable one as they needed one 100 run partnership to set the tone for the run chase. India’s pacers were bang on target as the deliveries were impeccable & immaculate. Till 8 Overs West Indies were unscathed ,then came the lanky fast bowler Prasidh Krishna. He created a havoc by taking 2 wickets of  Brandon King & Darren Bravo.

The runs were hard to come due to the disciplined bowling. Not a single batter scored a half-century nor there was one partnership of 50 runs . The batters succumbed to pressure so much & easily as there was lack of intent from the batters. The debutant Odean Smith instilled a belief by smashing 2 sixes consecutively. He was batting at No.9 position which was doing a bit injustice to his talent.

The speedster Prasidh Krishna made the most of the pitch by picking up 4 wickets as he gave away 12 runs in his 9 over spell. This time the bowling unit performed to potential as defending 238 runs doesn’t happen too frequently. The manner in which the bowling unit supported each other showed the glimpse of the depth which India possesses.

Opting to bowl first West Indies bowling unit were spot on. The likes of Kemar Roach & Odean Smith got rid of Rohit Sharma & Virat Kohli cheaply which gave them an upper hand. This time the onus was on KL Rahul & he along with Suryakumar Yadav were involved in a huge 91 runs partnership. Suryakumar Yadav made the most of the opportunity by notching up a gritty 64 runs in 83 balls.

Deepak Hooda played a second fiddle by scoring 29 runs in 25 balls. At the back end of the innings the batters made small contributions of 20 odd runs & somehow posted a moderate total of 237 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. The pick of the bowlers from West Indies was the duo Alzarri Joseph & the newbie Odean Smith. Both the bowlers 2 wickets each & were quite economical. The entire bowling line up of West Indies exhibited sheer brilliance with the ball.
