IND vs AUS 1st T20: Justin Langer Angry After Team India Replace Injured Jadeja With Chahal As Concussion Substitute
Australian team coach Justin Langer was quite unhappy after Yuzvendra Chahal came in as a concussion substitute for Ravindra Jadeja during 2nd innings of the 1st T20 match in Canberra on Friday. Jadeja had a hamstring injury during his knock of 44 runs from 23 balls and was also hit on the helmet when he missed a bouncer from Aussie pacer Mitchell Starc in the final over of Team India’s innings. Indian team pointed out that the knock on the head forced them to bring in a concussion substitute. However, Langer was unhappy with Chahal taking the field as a concussion substitute and was seen arguing with match referee David Boon.
What is the Rule
According to the rule only like-for-like player is allowed as concussion substitute and due to that match referee David Boon approved the request to bring in Chahal with Jadeja being one of India’s frontline spinners during the match. During the match, Commentators Ajit Agarkar and Sanjay Manjrekar duo also said that India were well within their rights to ask the match referee for Jadeja’s concussion substitute. After the match India captain Virat Kohli said that Jadeja is still a little dizzy after being knocked on the side of the head. He further said that concussion replacements are a strange thing but it worked for the team today as maybe some other time they would not have been able to find a like-for-like.

Victory Heroes- Jadeja and Chahal
At one point Team India was struggling and it looked as if the team may end up with a below par score. But Jadeja turned things around, hitting a quick fire 44 not out with 57 runs being scored in the final four overs. During his knock Jadeja pulled a hamstring late in the innings. He continued to bat, but was also hit on the helmet with four balls left off Mitchell Starc. Australia had started well as the side moved to a match winning position but than Chahal went on to take 3 wickets and conceded just 25 runs from his four overs. Chahal picked up the key wickets of Aaron Finch, Steve Smith and Matthew and as a result he also became the Man of the Match.
