GT vs LSG Match Preview

Both of these teams are entering their first season and hope to make a big impact in their debuts. These two teams have put together pretty solid squads led by highly impactful captains.

In Gujarat’s first match, West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph won’t be available due to his recent involvement in the Test series against England. At the same time, Lucknow will be without players like Marcus Stoinis, Jason Holder, Kyle Mayers, and Andrew Tye in the initial phase. It is expected that the chasing team will win the match.

GT vs LSG Pitch Report

Wankhede Stadium has always been a fantastic batting venue. The track bounces evenly, and the shorter boundaries make it easier for batters to smash the ball. Due to the high likelihood of dew, both teams will choose to bowl first after winning the toss. The weather will be 31°C on match day, with a low of 54% humidity and a wind speed of 14 km/hr.

Wankhede Stadium is known for its fast outfield, making it a perfect venue for high-scoring games. Although the first match was low-scoring in the first innings, it is expected to improve with time. On this wicket, first-innings scores average 182 runs.

Gujarat Titans Predicted Playing XI

Gujarat Titans are one of the very few teams that would not be impacted by the lack of overseas players. The majority of their overseas players are available. The only absent player from the first two matches will be Alzarri Joseph, but he shouldn’t influence the selection at all. It’s just a matter of finding the right team combination.

As Jason Roy has opted out of the IPL, Gujarat Titans will be faced with the question of who will open alongside Shubman Gill. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Matthew Wade are currently their two options. The 4th and 5th slots could be held by Hardik Pandya and David Miller, respectively. The finisher could be Abhinav Manohar as he did for the Karnataka team as well.

Rashid Khan, Mohammed Shami, and Lockie Ferguson are three very good bowlers for Gujarat Titans. Jayant Yadav, Varun Aaron, and Darshan Nalkande are likely to compete for the fourth bowling spot.

Playing XI: Hardik Pandya (C), Matthew Wade (wk), Shubman Gill, Vijay Shankar, David Miller, Abhinav Manohar, Rashid Khan, Rahul Tewatia, Varun Aaron, Mohammed Shami, Lockie Ferguson

Lucknow Super Giants Predicted Playing XI

Before the first match, the Lucknow Super Giants face major problems in their section. It’s concerning that three of their top three overseas players are unavailable. Mark Wood is injured, and Jason Holder and Marcus Stoinis won’t be available for at least two matches. Additionally, Kyle Mayers will not be available for the first two matches.

LSG should continue to play KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock as openers. In a situation where the batting is a little thin, Evin Lewis could be brought in at number three. The remaining batting lineup will be of Manish Pandey, Deepak Hooda, Krunal Pandya, and Krishnappa Gowtham. Mark Wood and Jason Holder will be replaced by Andrew Tye and Dushmantha Chameera respectively in the bowling department. They will be supported by Ravi Bishnoi and Avesh Khan.

Playing XI: KL Rahul (C), Quinton de Kock (wk), Evin Lewis, Manish Pandey, Deepak Hooda, Krunal Pandya, Dushmanta Chameera, Ankit Rajpoot, Krishnappa Gowtham, Avesh Khan, Ravi Bishnoi
