CSK vs DC: Dhoni’s team looks to make a comeback against Delhi

In the seventh match of IPL 2020, MS Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings will face off against Shreyas Iyer led Delhi Capitals at The Dubai international Cricket stadium. While it will be the third match of the season for CSK, DC will be playing their second match after the win against Kings XI Punjab in a thriller contest which went down to the super over. CSK started the season with a win over Mumbai Indians but failed to continue the winning run against Rajasthan Royals. Although, one good news for CSK fans is that the last three encounters between these two teams have all been won by Chennai. So, Delhi would be looking to break that winning streak on Friday.

Middle Order Worry for CSK
A big role in Chennai’s loss against Rajasthan Royals was the flop show by their middle order batsman and also the choice of batting Order. Faf Du Plessis could not get any support from the other end, otherwise one decent partnership could have changed the outcome of the match. It was also surprising to see Dhoni come out to bat at such a later stage of the innings, especially in such a pressure situation when chasing such a huge target. CSK have  Ruturaj Gaikwad, Kedar Jadhav, Sam Curran and MS Dhoni in the middle order. So the middle order looks a little weak and Dhoni may need to think of promoting himself up the order i.e at no. or 5 for this season.

Ashwin’s injury
Delhi Capitals are looking out for a replacement for Ravichandran Ashwin who injured his shoulder in the match against KXIP. Delhi have Experienced bowler Amit Mishra and he could be the possible choice to replace Ashwin in the playing XI. Apart from these spinners, Delhi have one of the best fast bowlers in the world i.e Kagiso Rabada. The South African bowler showed his class in the previous match against KXIP.

Good Start
Openers will play an important role because if the team gets a good start then that that team will have a definite advantage as spinners have an important role to play here at UAE pitches and if the team has a good start, then it will not give chance to opposition spinners to settle down and dominate. For Delhi, it will be the responsibility of Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw whereas for Chennai it will be Murali Vijay and Shane Watson who would be seen in a similar role.

CSK all rounders
One area where CSK have an advantage is their all rounders. They have the likes of Sam Curran and Ravindra Jadeja who can contribute with both bat and bowl and have won a no. of matches for their respective teams in the past. Both of them are known for their big hitting and that is what is required in this format of the game, Apart from these two, Chennai also have the services of Australian veteran Shane Watson who will be batting at the top order. Watson can also bowl if required and his experience on the field does help the team a lot.
