5 upcoming Bollywood movies that can become blockbusters in 2022

The Bollywood movies business is slowly picking up after the Covid-19 pandemic, as audiences flock to theaters to watch blockbusters. The year 2022 has already been promising for Bollywood movies such as Gangubai Kathiawadi, The Kashmir Files, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 making big bucks at the box office. There are some critically acclaimed Bollywood movies coming out in the second half of this year.

The following is a list of 5 upcoming movies that could become Blockbusters:

 

1. Shamshera (Ranbeer Kapoor, Vanni Kapoor)

The movie “Shamshera” marks the big-screen return of Ranbir Kapoor after four years. He was last seen in ‘Sanju’, released in 2018. Yash Raj Films unveiled the first teaser on Wednesday of the epic period drama, ‘Shamshera,’ in which Ranbir plays a dacoit set in the pre-independent India. Karan Malhotra directs the film, which stars Vani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt as the antagonist. The film is based on Howard Pyle’s novel, The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood. Shamshera will be released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu on July 22, 2022.

 

2. Raksha Bandhan (Akshay Kumar, Bhumi Pednekar)

Recently, Akshay Kumar unveiled the trailer for his next film, Raksha Bandhan, in which he portrays himself as a doting brother to four of his sisters who are all of marriageable age. Aanand L. Rai directs the film, which celebrates the unbreakable bond between siblings and how Kumar’s character struggles to raise funds for the weddings of each of his sisters. The cast also includes Bhumi Pednekar, Abhinay Raj Singh, Sahejmeen Kaur, Deepika Khanna, Sadia Khateeb, Seema Phawa, and Smrithi Srikanth. Raksha Bandhan will release on August 11, 2022.

3. Brahmastra (Ranbeer Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, Nagarjuna and Mouni Roy)

The trailer for one of Bollywood’s most anticipated films, Brahmastra Part One: Shiva, was released on Wednesday, and the story is closely related to Hindu mythology and has grabbed audiences’ attention. This is Ranbir Kapoor’s second release in 2022, in which he plays Shiva, a superhero avatar who is unaware of his superpowers. As directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Brahmastra Part One: Shiva brings together a cast that includes Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy. The film, “Brahmastra Part One: Shiva,” is scheduled to release on September 9.

4. Vikram Vedha (Hrithik Roshan, Saif Ali Khan)

Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan starrer Vikram Vedha’ is a Hindi remake of the 2017 hit Tamil film of the same name. This neo-noir thriller is helmed by Pushkar-Gayathri, who also created the original which starred R Madhvan and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead roles. Saif and Hrithik will share the screen for the first time. The story revolves around a police inspector named Vikram and a gangster named Vedha. Radhika Apte, Rohit Saraf, and Yogita Bihani also star in the film. The film is produced by YNOT and Plan C Studios. Vikram Vedha is scheduled to be released on September 30, 2022.

5. Ram Setu (Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nushrratt Bharucha)

There is another film in the works of Akshay Kumar in 2022, titled Ram Setu. In the film, Akshay plays an archaeologist who investigates Ram Setu’s nature. It is directed by Abhishek Sharma, produced by Cape of Good Films, Abundantia Entertainment, Amazon Prime Video, Lyca Productions, and distributed by AA Films. Other actors in the film include Jacqueline Fernandez, Nushrratt Bharucha, and Satyadev Kancharana. Ram Setu’ will be released in theaters on October 24, 2022, coinciding with Diwali.
